SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS:

CLASS PROJECTS:

All projects are expected to be worked on in class.  If you have Photoshop, you may opt to put in additional time on them at home.  The majority of the work is to be done in class.  Outlines for each project will be found online on my teacher website and possibly on the front table in paper format.  After I have introduced the projects, you are to read the directions carefully and see what is expected. During project demos or presentations your full attention is required for common courtesy as well as your full understanding of the project expectations.  You will be introduced to each project on a “rolling” basis.  You are expected to move on to the next project when you finish the previous project. So it is your responsibility to keep up with the pace of the class.

INDEPENDENT PROJECT:

You will work on this project each Friday.  This is a student-directed, long-term creative project.  This is also the project you will work on if you are ahead of the rest of the class.  Examples and more information will be given in class.  This project is a SEMESTER LONG project and is due on Friday, January 6.  We will have an in-depth discussion about this project on Friday, Sept. 2.  You are to be prepared to begin working every Friday on your Independent Project beginning Friday, Sept. 9.

STUDIO PROCEDURES (WORTH 20%)

  • Ready to work: When you arrive to class, sit at your computer station and be prepared to begin working. Take care of bathroom visits before the bell rings.  Mr. Jones will remind you of the goal for the class period along with any other pertinent information for you to know once the bell has rung and attendance has been taken.

  • Respectful of classmates, media and tools:  Fooling around in class or failing to focus on your work will possibly result in an email/phone call home, removal from class, as well as a poor studio procedure grade.

  • Extreme focus on completing the assignment: Your computer screen is connected to the teacher station and your activities are constantly monitored.  Please refer to 5b below.

  • Maintenance of personal and communal spaces: Clean up after yourself at your computer station and any areas of the classroom you are also utilizing.

  • Follow school and studio policies: Quiet discussions may be allowed, wasting class time to chat with your classmates is not tolerated and your seat will be changed.  In addition:

    • At times it may be necessary to use personal electronic devices to do research on the web (i.e. internet not working on classroom computers, etc.)  However, if you are observed texting or sending emails, you will be warned ONCE.  Upon the second observation, you will be reported to your administrator for an electronic device violation.

    • Mr. Jones reserves the right to eliminate the use of personal electronic devices at any point during the course.  Don’t abuse the classroom guidelines and there shouldn’t be a problem.

    • Please do not wear a hat, you will be asked to remove it from your head while you are in Mr. Jones's class. Clear plastic water bottles are OK when kept on the floor.

  • Electronic gadgets: when Mr. Jones is talking you are to remove BOTH ear pieces and turn off your device.  Once he gives you the OK to get to work, you may put in ONE ear piece and play your music on LOW.  If he (or your classmates) can hear it, it is too loud and you will be asked to lower the volume.  Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
